Sir: Pakistan’s shock defeat to the lowly ranked Zimbabwe in the second test match on Saturday has led to calls for the sacking of captain Misbahul Haq and coach Dave Whatmore, and for radical changes in the cricketing set-up. This defeat is very disappointing and it is very frustrating for all Pakistani cricket lovers. This defeat is also an alarm bell for Pakistani cricket. Honestly speaking, Zimbabwe deserves credit for the win but Pakistan’s game was indeed very poor. Perhaps Misbah has become stale now and is short of new ideas. We need to have a new captain and fresh direction. This is the time to take decisions because we cannot do worse than this. We should not rely so much on the spin blowing attack because, if we look to the past, we heavily depended on our fast bowlers and on playing natural and aggressive cricket. However, I think that losing to Zimbabwe is a big setback for Pakistan cricket and the board now needs to make changes in the management and team.
