India’s legend to retire

Sir: Sachin Tendulkar, the world’s most famous and revered cricketer from India, will retire from cricket after playing his 200th test, which is scheduled against the West Indies in India from November to December. Tendulkar will become the first player to reach the 200-test landmark. He said that all his life he had dreamed of playing cricket for India: “I have been living this dream every day for the last 24 years. It is hard for me to imagine a life without playing cricket because it is all I have ever done since I was 11 years old.” He also said that it has been a huge honour to represent his country and to play all over the world. “I look forward to playing my 200th test match on home soil, as I call it a day.” He has made 51 test centuries and 49 one day international (ODI) centuries. He is the only batsman in the history of the game to reach 100 centuries. Tendulkar is the highest scorer in both tests and ODIs, with 15,837 runs in 198 tests and 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs respectively. He is, undoubtedly, the greatest cricketer India has produced. His awesome feats shall be remembered forever in the history of cricket.
