Sir: In Pakistan, drone attacks have been continuing since 2004. According to news reports, 20 drone attacks were carried out during this year, in which 127 people have died. Pakistani intellectuals, civil society members and the general populace of the country have forever been condemning these drone strikes. Similarly, the attacks have not only killed many people in Pakistan but have also destroyed infrastructure and their lives. Therefore, the recent meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and US President Barack Obama in Washington might leave space for agreement by both countries to agree and stop the drone strikes. This may be a positive sign towards the progress of a mutually beneficial relationship for both these countries.
