Sir: It seems the Pakistani authorities have sold this country in almost every way. The latest news coming out of the Sindh wildlife department is that it grants Arab dignitaries hunting licences every year to hunt the houbara bustard, a bird that is almost extinct, not because this will generate revenue but because it puts them in the good will of the Arab sheikhs. How completely vile. A bird that should be protected by all means necessary by state authorities is allowed to be cruelly hunted down because it will make the Saudis throw a few extra scraps our way. Do we have no shame? Do we have no honour? National and international law demand that the bustard be protected but we have made special exceptions for the Arabs. Talk about being a stooge!
