Sir: Mercury levels are rising and so is the ominous spectre of load shedding. We Pakistanis have gotten so used to the utter misery that accompanies power outages that our whole lives seem to revolve around knowing when the lights go out and when they come back so that we can get our chores taken care of. So busy are we in this unproductive cycle that we have forgotten how to entertain ourselves and how important for the mind, body and soul some recreation is. Now that the temperatures are beginning to soar once again, we ought to expect no mercy from the government. All one can hope for is some rainfall and cool winds from the God of hope and mercy, not these ‘rulers’ who take us to pathetic new heights. ASIF GHAUS Lahore
