Sir: The political parties in the opposition are demanding the resignation of the interior minister on his failure to respond in timely fashion to the strike that paralyzed Karachi airport for almost 24 hours. The minister justified his absence from the scene by stating that the intelligence of the airport attack had been given to the Sindh government in March this year. He said that he had also made sure that important instructions were given to the concerned quarters on tackling the situation. In my opinion, during this war-like situation in Pakistan, removing the interior minister will not serve the purpose. Firstly, we should take action against those who did not take appropriate steps in accordance with the intelligence report. Secondly, the opposition should rally behind the government so that a strong message is sent to the terrorists that the country is united in taking them out completely. Hamza Gilani Lahore
