Sir: Being a senior citizen I would like to express my resentment and serious concern over the terrible attitude towards Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) pensioners by the finance ministry. Despite the fact that the government has announced an increase in the pension of government employees by 10 percent, besides fixing the lowest pension not to be less than Rs 6,000, nothing has been done for EOBI pensioners. Most of the EOBI pensioners are in the age group of 60-70 years; they live miserable lives because of the paltry amount they are getting in this age of high inflation and price hikes. The pensioners had been contributing millions of rupees to the national exchequer throughout their service. But at this stage, when they needed help, they have been left helpless. The EOBI pensioners request the prime minister to review the matter and advise the finance minister to do justice to senior citizens. Mohammad RafiqueRawalpindi
