Sir: Turbat, a major city where thousands of students can be found trying to obtain an education, faces a shocking shortage of libraries. There is just one public library and there are no more than 1,500 books. Do the authorities think that just one library is enough to create a reading culture in Turbat? In fact, the students are thirsty for a library and want to read new books but no one is taking any action regarding this major issue. The majority of the people are stricken by poverty, the unemployment rate is high, salaries are low and proper education is not being provided. Buying books is a luxury few can afford. We students appeal to the government of Balochistan to take some serious steps towards establishing some libraries and also providing new books to the library already in existence.SHAKEEL PHULLANTurbat
