LONDON: Five boys from London aged between 15-19 were charged with terror offences after being arrested earlier this week by the Metropolitan police. A statement released by the Scotland Yard on Friday night stated “The arrests relate to plans on travelling to join a proscribed organisation.” Scotland Yard said the young boys would appear at Westminster magistrate’s court on Saturday with one of the boys, a 15-year-old from Waltham Forest, charged with information collection and two counts of promotion of terrorist publications. A boy (16) from Lambeth has been charged with preparation of terrorist acts while a 17-year-old from Hounslow faces similar charges, as well as counts of propogation of terrorist publications. Ahmedeltigani Alsyed (19) from Hounslow, and a 17-year-old from Merton, are each charged with a count’s of preparation of terrorist acts and collection of information contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. Most of the boys were apprehended from locations in west and south London on Tuesday while a 15 year old was taken into custody on Monday evening in east London.
