Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army General Bipin Rawat mentioned that Kashmir is ‘heaven’, while addressing students in Kashmir. He further added that there is a need to restore peace in the valley. While talking to a group of students in Indian Occupied Kashmir, General Bipin said that there was a time when tourism was at sky-high levels and people enjoyed visiting Kashmir in vacations but now due unrest in the valley, people do not visit Kashmir very often now. He stressed the need to bring back the time of 1980’s before the military was deployed. The Indian Chief further added, “Kashmir is heaven. We have to bring it to the level that was there before. The world flocks to see the Valley, but people are not being able to come because of the tension,” a Indian news channel Quoted General Rawat saying so. Talking about the time he spent in Indian Occupied Kashmir, General Rawat said “it was good” back in 1981 when he got his first posting, after passing out from Indian Military Academy (IMA). His visit to IOK comes a few days after his diatribe against Pakistan, in which he indicated that Indian Armed Forces are ready for a “Two and a half front war”, while relating it to internal and external security challenges.
