BEIJING – After ruling the box office in India Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book’ stomped out the competition in Chinese theaters in the week ending April 17, earning 318 million yuan (about 49.1 million U.S. dollars) after opening on April 15, the China Film News reported on Tuesday. The picture, which enjoyed some 225,000 screenings between Friday and Sunday, grossed $50.8 million in its opening three days.
