LAHORE: Team Kaos of Lahore defeated Vikings FC to win the Under-21 Total Futsal Tournament held here onday night. The winners received Rs 40,000 cash prize while the runners-up pocketed Rs 10,000. A total of 32 teams from all over Pakistan participated in the tournament. Thirty teams (from different schools, colleges and universities) were from Lahore while one team was from Karachi and the other from Sialkot. All proceeds from the three-day event went to the Rising Sun Institute for Special Children. A total of Rs 50,000 were donated to this special education centre. Futsal is a sport quite similar to football, but the ground on which it is played is comparatively smaller. There are five team members in the sport. “We decided to donate to the Rising Sun Institute for Special Children because I used to volunteer at the Ujala Centre in Karachi, which was a school for special children as well. And when I found out that the Rising Sun Institute runs on the same lines as that of Ujala and is fully functional in my hometown Lahore, I zeroed down on it as our main charity receiver. I made that decision there and then,” Sharjeel Javed, who plays for the team Sugar Daddies and who was responsible in making the tournament happen, said while talking to Daily Times. Muiz Ahmed and Asfand Fateh, both students of Lahore Grammar Defence branch for boys play for team Sugar Daddies and were complicit in making this tournament happen. The chief guests at the event were politician and social worker Talha Barki as well as children of the Rising Sun Institute for Special Children. The Under 21 Total Futsal Tournament is so far held annually for the last three years in Karachi, but this year, Sharjeel Javed felt one tournament should be held in Lahore as well, which happens to be his hometown. “I don’t want it done annually. I’m trying another tournament for Lahore next month as well,” Javed said. Spartacus, Kinnu, King Tigers, Predators, 4 Words and Boneless were also some of the teams that participated.
