DUBAI: After playing two fruitful seasons with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Shahid Afridi has announced that he would be departing the current title holders and joining another franchise for the upcoming season. The big-hitter posted a few tweets late Friday stating that he made this decision due to personal reasons and gave no further explanations. The former Pakistani skipper posted on his Twitter account“Won the cup with one team, time for another. I am announcing my end of service as president & player of Peshawar Zalmi team due to personal reasons,” My best wishes with Peshawar Zalmi and as far as my Peshawar fans are concerned I know they are with me wherever I go,” he added. Boom boom’s announcement came as a surprise to Zalmi and PSL supporters. When asked to comment on this matter Peshawar Zalmi owner said that he had not heard anything regarding the matter. Shahid Afridi left Peshawar Zalmi on the back two successful seasons, and this season he had given West Indies international Darren Sammy charge of the team which won the second edition of the PSL after an exciting tournament.
