LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) anti corruption tribunal banned the opening batsman Khalid Latif after a hearing of Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing case on Wednesday. The tribunal also imposed a fine of one million PKR on the batsman for his involvement in fixing, hiding his contacts with bookies and soliciting other players to corrupt practices. PCB has been conducting a long running investigation to probe the allegations of spot-fixing in PSL 2017. Another Islamabad United’s batsman Sharjeel khan has been banned for five years by the tribunal over spot fixing and corruption. All rounder Mohammad Nawaz and fast bowler Mohammad Irfan have also been sanctioned after the investigation on multiple charges of the same nature. The opening batsman has represented Pakistan in five one day internationals (ODIs) and 13 Twenty20 internationals (T20Is). However, Latif’s lawyer Badar Alam refused to accept the verdict and claimed that it has no legal value.
