LONDON: Three clubs are ready to meet Neymar’s £157m ($224m) release clause and prise him away from Barcelona this summer. Neymar, 23, is currently on talks over extending his contract at the Nou Camp, with Catalan-based newspaper Sport suggesting he will sign an extension until 2022 following Brazil’s campaign at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. However, this hasn’t stopped speculation linking him with a world-record move. Brazilian publication Globoesporte reported in May Neymar had not ruled out the possibility of a hugely lucrative move to Manchester United, Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain. While he did not name the clubs involved, Wagner Ribeiro, one of Neymar’s representatives, has now explained to Radio Jovem Pan there are clubs still ready to offer huge sums for the Brazil international. “Today there are three big clubs in the world who want to sign Neymar and pay the clause of 200m euros to Barcelona. I cannot say anything else, because it is a sensitive issue.” Neymar’s future at the Nou Camp has been under scrutiny since last August when Globoesporte revealed United were the first club to offer to pay his release clause in full. The Barcelona star and his father later confirmed that the United offer did exist, when speaking in court in early February during the investigation into the player’s transfer from Santos in 2013. Neymar’s father added that United remained interested and would be still happy to pay the fee in full to bring the forward to Old Trafford. While United, Real Madrid and PSG may harbour ambitious hopes of signing the Brazil international, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says there is no chance of Neymar, or Lionel Messi or Luis Suarez, leaving the club.
