KARACHI: The 17th edition of the Sindh games will reportedly be held in the middle of May in the provincial capital. Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar announced the decision on Monday, informing reporters that, “We were initially planning to hold Sindh Games in March or April but several educational institutions requested us to consider the exams of students and therefore we have planned to hold the games in mid May.” The minister said that Karachi had been chosen as the venue for the games as there were more sports facilities available as compared to other cities of the province. “Moreover, players from interior Sindh enjoy their time in Karachi, which is not the case vice versa,” Mahar said. He further said that the different sports to be included in the seventeenth edition of the games will be announced soon. He added that a budget of Rs 15 million had been allocated for the games, which would be held after a lapse of five years. The last games were held in 2012. “We have worked to evaluate whether we can hold the games befittingly in the given budget and it seems quite difficult to attain both objective. However, our chief minister have assured his help if we exceeds the budget,” Mahar said.
