DUBAI: Administrators and organizers on Monday have chosen Lahore as the venue to host the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL). During a meeting in Dubai, the participants, including team owners, decided to organise the event in Pakistan regardless of the participation of international cricketers. However, re-drafting of the players would be carried out in case of refusal from foreign players. It was also decided that presidential-level security would be provided to all participating players. Earlier, due to security concerns arising from series of bombings in different parts of the country, there was speculation that the PSL final may not be held in Pakistan, with many international players voicing their concerns over the security issue. Javed Afridi, owner of the Peshawar Zalmi, said that in national spirit they have decided to remain on the same page. “Cricket is what unites the nation; the decision on the final was made in the meeting with PSL chairman Najam Sethi.” Star player Shahid Afridi had urged that the PSL season two final should be held in Pakistan during a post-match press conference. “The final, as announced, should be held in Pakistan, with or without international players,” he had said.
