DUBAI: Despite the suicide blast in Lahore, the Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) officials vowed to stage the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final next month in Lahore. The organisers had planned the 5thMarch final in Lahore, vowing ‘head of state security’ for international players. “We are committed to host the final in Lahore as our people want it there and it will be a step towards reviving international cricket,” PSL chairman NajamSethi told AFP Thursday in Dubai. “VVIP security is ensured.” Pakistan has not hosted a cricket match with international team since 2009 because of attack on Sri Lankan cricket side. Sethi said that international players competing in the PSL would be asked by February 22 if they are willing to go to Lahore. “After that those who do not want to go will be replaced with other foreign players who are available for Lahore,” he said. Officials assured of complete protection for the players and will be provided with bullet-proof buses and heavy police protection, among other high-level security measures. Last year the profit reported was $2.6 million despite being held entirely in the United Arab Emirates.
