Qatari national team could face sanctions from FIFA for involving politics in sports. The Qatar national team, in their training session before World Cup qualifier against South Korea, wore white T-shirts, showing support for their premier. And a similar thing can be observed in their qualifier against South Korea. It was observed days after Egypt and several other countries cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, allegedly blaming them for supporting ‘terrorism’ in the region. However Qatar denounces any such accusations. The white T-shirts that the players wore, were emblazoned with a picture of their premier, an image that has become a symbol of Qatari defiance in response to Gulf-crisis. The show of support became very evident when midfielder Hasan Al-Haydos after scoring the opening goal, took of his soccer jersey to wave of the white shirt that he wore as an inner. FIFA has maintained its policy of strongly denouncing any such messages. However Qatar will host the 2022 FIFA world cup says FIFA President. And that FIFA is not interested in politics. Later, the Qatari coach defended his players and stated, “I don’t see something that can receive a punishment as it is a t-shirt with a picture of the Emir,” he said. “It doesn’t say anything against anybody. “I can’t agree with the blockade that is against the people, against the families, many families are damaged, they really don’t deserve this.”
