Uloomi Karim Shaheen, Pakistan’s mixed martial arts (MMA) star has been denied the Chinese visa and will not be fighting China’s Kang Kang Niu on August 12’s Rebel FC in Shanghai, China. According to Zohaib Ahmed’s story in the Express Tribune newspaper, the 26-year-old Pakistani fighter was all set to take on Kang Niu and this match was much anticipated because of their spat at a press conference last month. The report further said that Uloomi had trained harder than he normally does so that he could leave a mark in the big Chinese market and had successfully reduced the weight to meet the required level. But it all came down to the visa refusal for Uloomi’s hopes to be shattered. He was denied the Chinese visa because of some problem with his paperwork. The MMA star took to Facebook and explained the disappointing situation in a video message. He said he came to know only when he had missed the deadline that he was supposed to produce a document from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He said the situation was frustrating for him to say the least and went on to jokingly say that his visa refusal did a favour to Kang Niu and saved him from the “beating I was going to give to him”.
