ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah said while speaking at the dinner hosted for Pakistan national cricket team on Thursday that the naval forces are proud of ex-serviceman Fakhar Zaman who served the Pakistan Navy cricket team for seven years before trying his luck at national level. The chief advised national cricketers to continue working hard and show humility in both victory and defeat. He greatly appreciated team’s exemplary display of unity and spirit throughout the tournament, especially against Indian in the final, making the entire nation proud. Admiral Zakaullah, who himself is a recipient of President Pride of Performance for outstanding performance in Yachting and twice Gold medalist in Asian Sailing Championship 1986 and 1990 besides representing Pakistan in Olympics Yachting regattas, acknowledged that Pakistan has tremendous talent and Pakistani sportsmen are well capable to win championships in other sports disciplines as well. The chief also commended Pakistan national cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed for playing a vital role in team’s success, making them play as a unit and bringing success to the country. The chief showed great satisfaction in celebrating International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy win with the cricket team, remarking that Pakistan Navy is proud of achievements of green shirts. He also applauded Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management, Selection Committee, Pakistan Super League (PSL) management and entire squad for their determined contributions that lead to Pakistan’s first tournament win at the ICC event. The dinner was also attended by Minister for Inter-Provisional Coordination Riaz Pirzada, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal, PCB chairman Shahryar Khan, PCB officials, team management and civil dignities. Chief of the Naval Staff also awarded medals to the members of the national team.
