MADRID: Real Madrid has announced on Monday that forward Cristiano Ronaldo is included in their 24-man squad for UEFA Super Cup against Manchester United. Ronaldo was not part of Madrid’s preseason fixtures for personal reasons as he was taking some time off in China, after FIFA Confederations Cup 2017, as part of Nike’s promotional tour and also had to appear before a Spanish court on accusations of tax evasion on July 31. The Portuguese international, who was instrumental in Madrid’s champions league triumph is named in the squad that includes senior stars like Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema as well as youth players including coach Zinedine Zidane’s son Luca and Achraf Hakimi. Madrid are subject to a tough August ahead as arch-rivals wait for the Spanish champions in a double-header clash in Spanish Super Cup 2017 right after their fixture against United.
