CARDIFF: Anticipating it to be his last activity in Pakistan cricket’s coloured kit, ODI Captain did 10 push-ups alone in his hotel room in the late hours of Sunday night, Khabaristan Times learned. Talking to himself in the mirror right in front of him, Azhar was content with the legacy he was leaving behind for his successor. “It is under my captaincy that Pakistan chased over 300 against such a formidable English side in England,” he said while addressing the mirror between the first and second push-ups. “I think this is the biggest achievement of the ODI side in the past year and a half and so it’s safe to say I’m leaving on a high,” he added. Even so, Pakistan’s ODI captain was visibly distressed to have nobody around to share his achievement. “I was half expecting Shoaib Malik and Mohammed Hafeez to be here doing the push-ups with me,” Azhar confessed to the mirror, between push-ups five and six. “After all, we’re all leaving on a high.” Hafeez later told Khabaristan Times that he regretted not celebrating a ‘remarkable tour’ with Azhar Ali. “I prefer celebrating alone, but Azhar is right to be upset,” he said. “For me it was a remarkably successful tour. My biggest cricketing achievement this year was getting the UK visa for the England tour” Hafeez said. This article originally appeared in Khabaristan Times
