LAHORE: On the eve of World Disabled Day, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan honoured Pakistan disabled cricket team and Wheelchair Cricket Association in a ceremony hosted at Gaddafi Stadium here Friday. PCB chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad and PCB general manager domestic cricket Shafiq Ahmad were also present on the occasion. Addressing the players, Shaharyar lauded the disabled cricket team for putting up a splendid performance and winning the 2nd ICC Academy Physically Disabled Cup 2016 held in Dubai. He especially praised the performance of Hasnain Alam who had scored a century in the earlier match of the tournament and was declared best player in the final. He said: “Disabled cricket team has won laurels for the country by winning the tournament and the whole nation is proud of their impressive performance. The disabled cricket team and wheelchair cricket team with their performances have set an example for disabled people. You are ambassadors of Pakistan and have proved this fact through excellent teamwork on and off the field.” On the occasion, he pledged his support to the disabled cricket team on behalf of the PCB and gave away a cheque for Rs.500,000 to the disabled cricket team and Rs.200,000 to the Wheelchair Cricket Association. The representatives of disabled cricket team and the Wheelchair Cricket Association thanked the PCB chief for honouring them and extending their support for disabled cricket.
