Karachi: Aafia Movement Pakistan’s leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has said that former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif missed an opportunity to become a national hero by securing the release of the daughter of the nation, Dr Aafia Siddiqui. In a statement here Saturday, she said the disqualification of Mian Nawaz should be for upholding of law and constitution; otherwise, the dream of the supremacy of law in Pakistan would remain elusive and the prevailing injustice-based system could never be reformed. She said the people would only see a meaningful change in their lives when a ruthless accountability would be there for all sorts of the corrupt and crooked elements. She said if the decision of Supreme Court is implemented in letter and spirit then one could hope that the politics of lies, corruption and false promises would be ended from Pakistan. Fowzia said the rulers who earned the US dollars through human trafficking of Aafia and her children, and the rulers who did not fulfill their promises regarding her release only faced disgrace and discredit. She said now it is up to the coming rulers to keep supreme the national honor and pride or prefer their vested petty interests. Published in Daily Times, July 30th , 2017.
