KARACHI: A Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) is likely to be formed to probe August 22 violence and attack on media houses in Karachi after MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistan speech outside Karachi Press Club. “We have written to the authorities concerned to constitute a JIT to interrogate those arrested so far,” confirmed Adeel Chandio the police investigating officer while talking to Daily Times, adding that the suspects arrested by police so far included 41 men and three women. Representatives of different intelligence and law enforcement agencies including Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Intelligence Bureau would also be a part of a JIT, who will question or interrogate the suspects about the case. Chandio further said that all the suspects remained in custody of police till today (August 30) while they would be produced before an anti-terrorism court today (Tuesday) where the court will decide whether they would be sent to the jail or the court would give more remand. The arrested MQM men include three senior leaders of the party including Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Shahid Pasha and Qamar Mansoor.
