HYDERABAD: Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA)says growers suffered huge loss due to use of sub-standard pesticides and continuous rain in the province. Sub-standard pesticides are sold in market without laboratory test. According to SCA growers could not get better seeds for cotton and other crops which increased their sufferings. Agriculture officers never visit fields to check sub-standard seeds and pesticides on sale in market which was affecting agriculture production in Sindh, SCA meeting held through video link at Hyderabad and Sanghar was told. Presided by additional general secretary SCA Zahid Hussain Bhurgari, it was briefed that laboratories for testing pesticides have been made inactive and sub -standard pesticides are being sold in market which are harmful to crops. Growers accused Agriculture Department of making growers vigilance committees inactive. Agriculture officers had not called meeting of these committees resulting in loss of billions of rupees to growers. The meeting was attended by Muhammad Khan Sarejo, Mir Abdul Karim Talpur, Zulfiqar Shah, Mir Imdad Talpur, Agha Khadim Hussain, Murad Ali Nizamani, Malook Nizamani, Nawaz Samejo, Ghulam Mujtaba Unar and others.
