KARACHI: MQM’s senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar said on Sunday that those who had deserted and left the party would soon rejoin. Speaking to media, Sattar said that the wheel would turn the other way and those who had deserted the party, would soon rejoin its ranks. He reiterated his demand that MQM headquarters Nine-Zero should be reopened. “MQM should be allowed to serve the people through local government institutions,” he said. “The party should be allowed to take part in political activities,” he pleaded. Addressing a press conference along with party leaders after a meeting of various unit members at the temporary office in PIB Colony, he maintained that “nothing happens due to statement of one person. We do not want to ruin our efforts of 38 years.” He said MQM has made temporary arrangements to continue its political activities. “But, our workers are worried due to these restrictions,” he contended. He said that even today, extrajudicial killings of MQM workers were taking place. Sattar refused to comment on former MQM MNA Asif Hasnain, who earlier in the day left the party and joined Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party. Sattar said that he would discuss the issue regarding Asif Hasnain in a press conference on Monday.
