KARACHI: In the wake of the current wave of terrorism and protests by political parties, the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) on Wednesday demanded that the government provide free move and security to journalists and media personnel. According to a press release, the demand was made by CPNE President Zia Shahid and Secretary General Ijazul Haq in a joint declaration. Furthermore, they also said the recent attack on Police Training Center, Quetta has terrorised the people, especially the journalists. They said journalists always operate on the front line to report news, where they are at risk and are an easy target for the terrorists. “Therefore, the government must provide foolproof security to media practitioners and journalists,” the PR concluded.
