KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has called for enhancing literacy rate in the province. He was talking to Sindh Education Secretary Dr Fazalullah Pachehu who called on him at the Governor House on Thursday. The secretary apprised the governor of the performance of Education Department, academic reforms as well as the usage of technology in the institutes. Ebad was of the view that a faster growth can only be attained with academic system that is in accordance with the need of the hour. He said that we should pay full attention towards our academic system to get a place among the developed nations. The governor said that effective measures should be taken to help increase the literacy rate and stressed that all available resources should be utilised for the purpose. He said that due attention should also be paid towards the primary and secondary level of education to lay the academic system on sound footings. Ebad also appreciated the usage of modern technology in educational institutes. On a separate note, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad has said that the problems of the teachers should be resolved on priority basis. He was talking to a delegation of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), which called on him at the Governor House on Thursday. The delegation included provincial President Prof Ali Murtaza and chief of the organisation, Feroze Ahmed. The delegation briefed the governor regarding the problems of the college teachers in the province. Ebad appreciated the role of the teachers towards imparting education to the younger generation. He said that the betterment of the academic system and resolution of the problems of the teachers is the prime responsibility of government.
