KARACHI: City police chief, Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar, has directed the police officials to made fool proof security plan to ensure security for the mourners during Majalis and procession of 21st Ramazan, Youm-e-Ali, Daily Times has learnt. As per security plan, total deployment of Karachi Police on Youm-e-Ali would remain equal to 5571 police personnel. As many as 22 SSPs, 43 DSPs, 124 motor cyclists would also be deployed on the route of procession. As per security plan for Youm-e-Ali, Karachi Police chief has directed to all zonal and district officers to ensure fool proof security arrangements and provide secure atmosphere to mourners during majalis and procession of Youm-e-Ali. Mahar directed that officers to coordinate with sunni and shia ulemas and other notables so that religious harmony could be maintained. He ordered to ensure sufficient force deployment at all imam bargahs, majalis and procession especially at procession routes to guard against any untoward incident and maintain law and order situation. Regarding the sensitivity of current scenario, Karachi Police chief has directed highest level of security and vigilance during majalis at imam bargahs and private places to avoid any unpleasant situation. He also directed to establish control room at district level to monitor the situation round the clock. He further directed to ensure search at all imam bargahs and majalis and if any suspicious material found anywhere should immediately be checked through Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and remove to safer place. He directed the Bomb Disposal Squad to be on high alert round the clock to effectively react to any untoward situation. It was also directed to keep parking areas away and at safer distance from imam bargahs during majalis and particularly from main procession route to avoid any mishap. Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, AD Khawaja, has called for foolproof security on the occasion of ‘Youm-e-Ali’ on 21st of Ramazan. He said on Sunday that the necessary deployment of police personnel be ensured. According to Karachi police report, some 122 processions would be taken out and 834 ‘Majalis’ would be held in the metropolis. The IGP has directed that there should be surveillance at the entry and exit points of the province as well as of the cities and the process of searching be intensified. He said the snap checking to be carried out on the highways and a vigilant eye should be kept on suspected vehicles.
