KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Thursday adopted a resolution paying tribute to renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was gunned down on Wednesday in Karachi. The resolution was jointly tabled by lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F). The resolution also urged law enforcement agencies to take immediate action for arrest of culprits. The resolution stated that Amjad Sabri’s demise was not only the loss of Pakistan but also of Muslim world. “We pay tribute to Amjad and express condolence on his said demise. We stand with his family in this period of grief and sorrow,” the resolution added. Later, the assembly adopted the resolution unanimously. Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded the government to take guardianship of martyred qawwal Amjad Sabri’s family. While talking on the point of order in Sindh Assembly’s budget session, Opposition Leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan demanded the government to take care of Amjad Sabri’s family. “Amjad was the only guardian of the family, and he left five children behind. The government is requested to take responsibly for the education of his children and to provide his widow a job,” he added. Izharul Hasan stated that slain qawwal was a man of good character and was known Karachi’s son and Karachi’s pride. Separately, Karachi administrator and other senior officers of the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Thursday expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic death of legend qawwal Amjad Sabri. Laeeq expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of Amjad Sabri in the city’s Liquatabad area and prayed for his departed soul. He said that Amjad Sabri was a successor of his father Ghulam Farid Sabri.
