KARACHI: The Chairman Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) Anwar Ahmed Zai has been arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team on corruption charges here on Tuesday evening. “A team raided at BSEK office at around 4PM and arrested Zai for his allegedly involvement in fake appointments and the involvement in changing the result sheets and answer copies of the candidates,” sources told Daily Times. According to a source Anwar Zai was a very influential official, who was basically an education officer. He was appointed as District Education Officer in 1983, Director School Education Karachi in 1991, and Additional Secretary Planning in 2002, and reappointed as Director Schools Karachi in 2003 and got retirement from that slot in 2004. Anwar Zai 72 was appointed as Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpur Khas in 2004 on contract basis. Later in 2006 Zai was appointed as Chairman Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) and got extension twice. After the completion of his extension periods Anwar Zai succeeded in getting another important position and was appointed as Chairman BSEK in 2015.
