KARACHI: A traffic police officials was killed and another injured at Karachi’s Abul Hasan Ispahani Road on Monday, said police. The incident took place hours after nine policemen were killed in Lahore. According to police, unidentified armed men riding a motorbike targeted the traffic policemen, Constable Kamran and Constable M. Khan, near Paradise Bakery on Abul Hasan Ispahani Road, when they were regulating traffic. Both were shifted to a nearby hospital, where one of them died. The slain warden, constable M. Khan, had received a bullet wound to his head, whereas the injured, Constable Kamran had received bullet wounds on his chest, said police. The SHO Gulshan-i-Iqbal told TV channels that the attackers were later intercepted near the Sherpao CNG station by patrolling policemen, but they opened fire before escaping. A policeman, Zubair Baloch, narrowly escaped injury, with a bullet grazing his head but otherwise leaving him unharmed. The attack occurred three days after three police personnel and a young boy were killed in Korangi. Published in Daily Times, July 25th 2017.
