KARACHI: The first Karachi Health Products fair kicked-off on Friday, which has been organized by Liaquat National Hospital at its premises. Around two hundred (200) vendors, importers, suppliers and producers of health products participated in the prestigious event by setting-up stalls with displays, brochures and teams of experts to provide an in-sight view of their respective products. Among the exhibitors were medical technologies and diagnostics, laboratory analytical equipments, surgical and pharmacy equipments, rehabilitation products, patient safety systems, infrastructure for healthcare set-ups and general goods providers in healthcare. Besides the visitors, surgeons, physicians, dentists, hospital owners, directors, hospital officials, pharmacists, physiotherapists, researchers, biologists, chemists, healthcare NGOs, rehabilitation aids, and visitors from medical colleges and universities also attended the event. Speaking on the occasion with the media Dr. Salman Faridi, Medical Director Liaquat National Hospital said that this first exhibition of its kind brought excellent results and the reason for organizing such an event was to bring the seller and buyer closer to understand and negotiate the products in a transparent manner. He further added that bringing the competitors into one event will help buyers negotiate the prices of the products, which in the end will benefit the patients. Dr. Faridi also added that all the income of this exhibition will go to the Liaquat National Hospital patient welfare charity. Brig(R) Dr. Naseem Ahmed, the Director Administration of Liaquat National hospital and Dr. Ataur Rehman, the organizer of the event shed light on the importance of such exhibitions, and said that following the success of this exhibition, next year LNH will hold this event on a much bigger scale. They said such events give an opportunity to reach out to the people in general and to the respective professionals in particular.
