KARACHI: The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah will inaugurate Abilities Expo-2017 on 25th February 2017 at 10:30 am at Karachi Expo Centre. This expo is being organized by Special Education Department, Government of Sindh in-collaboration with Karachi Vocational Training Centre. The idea of an Abilities Expo-2017 came from the need to create a stronger, more effective platform for the largely marginalized disabled community of Pakistan. This annual event will be used to publicly voice and share their concerns, showcase their abilities and skills to the world, and find solutions readily available in Pakistan to their various special needs. Abilities Expo is a resource fair for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) held annually around the world in countries aiming to providing equal opportunities to everyone in the community leading to a more inclusive society. KVTC’s vision was to bring the same idea to Pakistan and create a go to source for PWDs, providing abilities enhancing products and services, employment and partnership opportunities for PWDs, their families, caregivers, Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools, welfare organizations, health care professionals, and bridging the gap between services for PWDs in the public and private sector. Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs) in Sindh, members of the corporate sector, Pakistan Air Force, and others have extended their cooperation to make this event a reality. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shallwani, Secretary Special Education Department Sindh has worked tirelessly with utmost devotion and dedication for holding of Abilities Expo which is guaranteed to become Pakistan’s largest unified resource platform for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).This expo will finally be able to galvanize the fragmented efforts of public and private organizations and create an effective & efficient support system for all PWDs across the nation.
