KARACHI: The Anti Corruption department has recommended that the bio-data and credentials of IT staff and daily-wagers working at the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) should be checked by the secret agencies in order to break the racket at the educational institution. Chairman Anti Corruption Sindh Ghulam Qadir Thebo recommended this to the Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Siddique Memon while informing about the action done at BIEK last month. Chairman Anti-Corruption stated in his letter that his team was collecting evidences when suddenly Akhtar Ghouri, Chairman BIEK, along with controller examination Imran Chishti and other staff of BIEK entered into the room and started misbehaving with the investigation officers. The BIEK officers compelled the investigation officer to leave the police papers i.e. case file. “The staff of BIEK forcibly shut all entrances/exists and grilled the doors. The Investigation Officer managed to reach the police station of Orangi Town No 5 and on his complaint a relevant entry was made in Roznamcha of the police station,” said Thebo. Deputy Director ACE West Zone Karachi immediately contacted the Director ACE Sindh and informed him about the entire situation and also made mobile calls to police and rangers for his rescue and support. The police reached the board office to control the situation and afterwards door locks were broken in their presence. BIEK chairman and controller examination acted in prejudicial manner by obstructing due process of law and created every possible hurdle in order to stop the Officer from discharging him his statutory duties regarding collection of evidence. The threats of dire consequences were extended to the entire ACE team by the board officials and the staff. Thebo stated: “It is pertinent to highlight the role of IT Manager Dr Muhammad Shabeer Waqar and controller Imran Chisti, who were abettors and tried to hider the procedures. These officers had made media statements by alleging that ACE Staff corrupt and tainted the data which led to the malfunction and collapse of IT Server. “It is alarming that a government institution has been internally organized and being run on the lines of some mafia. Details and bio data of IT section and daily-wager employees in other departments of BIEK should be checked by intelligence agencies.” Chairman Anti Corruption also requested that legal/disciplinary action should be initiated against Akhtar Ghouri, Imran Chishti, and in-Charge IT Shabeer under RSO 2000 (Special Powers) and they may be suspended from their present postings immediately.
