KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday acquitted the former Director Finance of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in explosive material and illicit weapons case. Fariduddin, the finance director of the health facility, was booked for allegedly dumping a large cache of arms and ammunition and explosives in Nazimabad’s Khajji ground. The ATC-II judge heard the case. After hearing the agreements of lawyers of the accused and special public prosecutor and going through the evidences and witnesses deposition the court had reserved its verdict. The court pronounced its verdict on Wednesday acquitting Fariduddin in the case. The court in its verdict said that the accused was being acquitted for lack of evidence. The court said that the prosecution failed to present concrete evidence to prove its case against the accused. The court acquitted him of the charges. According to the prosecution, Rangers had placed the accused under 90-day preventive detention on June 4th, 2015 for his alleged involvement in terrorism activities.
