NAUNDERO: The President, Shah Lateef Local Government Employees Union (SLLGEU), Sindh, Hafiz Mushtaque Ahmed Korejo, has demanded that case of self-immolation by a town employee of Tharoo Shah be lodged against the administration of the concerned Town Committee. The activists of SLLGEU also held protest demonstration in front of Benazir Bhutto Press Club here on Wednesday against the incident in which an innocent employee torched himself as he was denied salaries. Bashir Shaikh, Zahid Bhutto, Shakeel Mirani, Wazir Channo and others participated in the demo. Hafiz Mushtaque Korejo while talking to Newsmen further said that 90% employees of municipal committees, town committees and union councils of the province have not been paid their monthly salaries since last four months due to which they all are suffering economic devastation. He further said that employees of Bakrani taluka despite balance in the account are being deprived of their monthly pay which amounts to violation of basic human rights which should be immediately investigated thoroughly. He said under these circumstances only way is left for low paid government servants to commit suicide or burn themselves so that they may not be able to see the hunger of their family members including their little kids. He also quoted an example of an employee of Ratodero who remained unable to get treatment of his dreaded disease and expired. He demanded payment of monthly salaries to all the local government employees through concerned district accounts officers, treatment of burnt employee by government and registering case of suicide or self-immolation against the concerned authorities in the instant case and in future as well due to non-payment of salaries.
