KARACHI: Two police officials who were gunned by unknown assailants on Friday in city’s Korangi area, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Qamar-ud-din and Constables Baber and Afzal, were laid to rest on Saturday. The funeral prayers of three martyred policemen were offered at Police Headquarters Garden on Saturday which was attended by the chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police AD Khawaja. The funeral prayer was also attended by senior police officers and victim’s relatives, friends and associates. The special squad of police presented the guard of honor to the martyred cop. On this occasion, IGP Sindh paid tribute to martyred policemen and expressed condolences with the heirs. He said that the attackers will be arrested soon, adding that police’s moral would not be decreased due to such incidents. Khawaja vowed that police will continue its targeted option against criminals and each policeman will not hesitate from any sacrifice for the sake of citizens’ life and property. The IGP announced to compensate each martyr’s family with Rs5 million and to give job in police department to one member of the victims’ families. He asked his sub-ordinates to ensure provision of all due incentives to legal heirs of martyred policemen and instructed them to complete all matters immediately in this regard.
