KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court ordered the placement of the names of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Karachi Tanzeemi Committee’s former chief, Hammad Siddiqui, and then MQM Baldia Town sector in-charge on the Exit Control List. The ATC-II has asked the investigation officer to get the names of absconding accused in the Baldia factory fire case enlisted on the ECL and submit compliance report by November 07. The court had issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of absconding accused, including Hammad Siddiqui and Abdul Rehman alias Bhola, with directions for the investigation officer to present them before the court on the next hearing. Over 250 workers were burnt alive in an ill-fated multi-storey garment factory in Baldia Town in September 2012. The reinvestigation of the incident in March last year by a joint investigation team revealed that the factory was set on fire after its owners failed to pay protection money. The JIT had alleged that Hammad, Abdul Rehman, Ali Hasan, Umar Hasan, Abdul Sattar, Ms Iqbal Adeeb Khanum and four unidentified persons were behind the plot of setting the factory on fire.
