KARACHI: The Sindh government has again failed to submit comment on a petition against alleged discrimination in the release of funds for development schemes in opposition lawmakers’ constituencies. On Monday, a division bench headed by Munib Akhtar heard a petition filed by PML-F lawmakers Rafique Bhanban, Rashid Shah and Nusrat Sehra Abbasi against what they said discriminatory release of development funds. When the petition came up for hearing before a bench headed by Justice Munib Akhtar, a law officer of Sindh government pleaded the court to give time for submission of comments. The petitioner counsel opposed the plea of government lawyers, saying that every time am excuse is put forth for not submitting reply by the government. He urged the court not to give further time to the Government , saying it was using delaying tactics. The court had summoned the concerned officer of Finance Department of Sindh for next date of hearing. The court while giving Sindh government last chance to file reply on the petition adjourned hearing till September 21, 2017 The Pakistan Muslim League – Functional MPAs had moved the court in May this year seeking directives for the government to release funds for development projects to be executed in their respective constituencies. They had named the provincial chief secretary, planning and development department’s secretary, chief minister’s principal secretary and other provincial authorities as respondents.
