Karachi: An accountability court on Tuesday extended physical remand of a former planning and development director of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) till August 21, 2017. An accountability court heard corruption and misappropriation case against the former official of Federal Urdu University. The accused, who was earlier remanded in NAB custody by the court for 10 days in the case, was produced before the AC. Special prosecutor of NAB said that the Bureau required further investigation from the accused in the case. He pleaded the court to give the accused in NAB custody on physical remand. The court extended the remand of the accused till August 28, 2017 and adjourned further hearing till then. Naeem Akthar has been charged for misappropriation of university funds worth over Rs80 million. The accused has also been alleged to have misused his powers and granted illegal contracts to misappropriate huge amount of funds, and in doing so caused a great loss to the national exchequer.
