KARACHI: Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) President Prof Dr Zubair Sheikh said that full assistance will be provided to MAJU students to set up their own business incubators after completion of their education instead of wasting their energy for seeking employment. He said this while addressing the students and their parents at pre-admission seminar held at university auditorium last evening. Computer Science Department Head Ahmer Umer gave a presentation regarding MAJU academic programmes and extra-curriculum activities. Senior faculty members including Dr Shujaat Mubarak, Dr Ghazanfer Munir, Dr Asim Imdad Wagan and Dr Munir Hussain were also present on this occasion. Dr Zubair Sheikh said that the students who intend to set up their own business or software house with office space, telephone, internet and other relevant facilities will be provided these facilities at university campus for the period of six months. During this period, if they feel that their business has been established now, they may shift their office at their own premises, he added. He said, “We are trying to arrange 100 percent internship for our students in this regard as we have established contacts with five leading foreign companies to set up their incubator cells at university campus.” He said that our students will be in a position to set up their project cell for six months to make their own companies. The MAJU president informed that Microsoft is going to support incubators shortly while academic alliance with SAP, Oracles finance and CISCO is also in progress. Dr Zubair Sheikh emphasised the need of electrical engineering and computer system engineering as two prominent engineering disciplines. Both are being started at bachelors and masters level at MAJU, he said. The industry oriented faculty members and PhDs from USA, UK, Malaysia, Canada Turkey and Korea would soon join the MAJU faculty.
