KARACHI: Sindh police has taken special security measures for peaceful celebrations of Pakistan Day on 23rd March amid ongoing census campaign in the metropolis as thousands of police personnel have been employed with census teams.
"All arrangements are being finalized for those areas where Pakistan Day related events would be held, district south being the main focus", DIG South Azad Khan told Daily Times.
Thousands of police personnel are already deployed with census teams for month-long drive across the city started from Wednesday, March 15.
"Security of Mazar-e-Qaid has been enhanced where special branch police officials would be deputed. Meanwhile security inside and outside of the mausoleum has been beefed up", an official said.
Police and other law-enforcement agencies are closely working with each other knowingly the facts that a string of terrorism is going on in the country and there has been several threat alerts issued with the suggestions for enhancing the security at sensitive points.
"Every year on the eve of Pakistan day prominent personalities of the country and politicians come to the Mazar of the founder of Pakistan Qaid Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, that why it can be the prime target of no state elements" an official said.
