KARACHI: China is ready to train the young Pakistani ophthalmologists in their country. This was announced during second day of 38th Karophth- 2017eye conference that is being held in local hotel in Karachi. The conference is being held under a theme of ‘Recent Advances in Ophthalmology’. About 75 national speakers and 16 international speakers will deliver lectures and presentations sharing their experiences and skills in various fields of ophthalmology. It was announced during that the eye-care training held under the umbrella of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Chinese Medical Association (CMA), Pak-China Medical Corridor and Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan. Various arrangements are being in this regard to final the arrangements of Pakistani ophthalmologists in China. Chinese delegation of 11 ophthalmologists headed by Dr Keqin Rao and others showed complete support in this regard. Various sessions were held during second day on the conference. During a meeting of Council of ophthalmology of Pakistan which consists of notable ophthalmologist of the country it was also decided to widen the scope of the research work in the field of ophthalmology. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Shahid Wahab sad with the increasing cases of ophthalmology there was dire need to increase the research work in Pakistan. It was decided that Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan will finance the research programs. Speakers said that this conference will prove an excellent forum for the eye care service providers to enhance their knowledge and skills for the ultimate benefit of patients under the auspices of OSP and to plan new strategies based on need assessment for the future healthcare facilities at the national level.
