MIRPURKHAS: Senior Provisional Minister of the Food Department, Nisar Ahmed Khoro said that the Sindh government has kept a target of buying 1.2 million tons of wheat. For this purpose, 470 points were established for government purchasing. This announcement was made during the inauguration of a point of purchasing wheat in Mirpurkhas.
While talking to local media, he further said the Government of Sindh had established Wheat purchasing Point on the 15th of March. Senior Minister Khoro stated the price of wheat was low abroad in comparison to Pakistan and it is for this reason, we should not export more wheat. The government of Sindh is providing a subsidy and an additional burden of Rs.600 per maund the government of Sindh is bearing.
Last year 3 lakh metric tons of wheat was exported. Khoro urged the government managed divisional and district level grower committees to make wheat purchasing fair.
