KARACHI: The Sindh minister for local government has transferred the powers for purchasing a new snorkel for Karachi from Administrator KMC Laiq Ahmed to head of the Karachi Development Project, Naiz Somroo. It is pertinent to mention here that a few days ago the minister had cancelled the tender for purchase of snorkel and asked the concerned department to call the new tender inquiry in this regard. With new responsibility, Soomro, now holds four important positions as he is also working as Director General Works (KMC) and heads both the Sindh Education Works Department and Sindh Department of Works and Services. A separate ‘projects directorate’ has been set up, which would function under the direct supervision of Sindh department of local bodies and will be headed by Niaz Somroo, having direct control of all departments of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), all district municipal administrations, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and all development authorities The Government of Sindh has launched a Rs10 billion special package to repair and construct of important roads of Karachi.
