KARACHI: Two persons were killed and three others injured in different incidents of violence on Saturday.
Unidentified persons in Gulistan-e-Johar stabbed to death a thirteen-year-old teenager Faizan, son of Muhammad Aslam. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
Separately, another thirty-five-year-old man, Muhammad Razik, son of Muhammad Abid, was stabbed and killed by unidentified culprits near Labour Square in Landhi. He was shifted to JPMC for postmortem.
Thirty-year-old Muhammad Jamil was shot and injured by an unidentified robber on resistance during a robbery bid in Shah Latif Town. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment.
Shah Latif Town Police Station, SHO had reported that upon resistance in an armed robbery Mohammad Jamil was injured by firing on Main Road, Shah Latif and was shifted to JPMC for treatment. He said that the injured man is an army soldier who received a minor bullet injury on his right hand.
JPMC Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Jagdish reported that Faheem and Ibrahim, were brought to JPMC from Vita Roundabout, with bullet injuries due to firing by an unidentified person accused of armed robbery.
Sub-Inspector Sagheer Ahmed said that the two persons were injured when the unidentified person fired shots at their resistance at the Vita Roundabout in Korangi.
The injured were shifted to JPMC for treatment.
Meanwhile, the city police on Saturday claimed to have arrested 66 criminals in 75 different raids during the last 24 hours in Karachi.
According to the Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi report, “The police conducted 75 raids in different areas of the city and arrested 66 criminals including killers, proclaimed offenders, absconders and robbers.”
The report stated that the police had recovered 24 handguns, a hand grenade, drugs and liquor in possession of the arrested.
Simultaneously, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) SSP, Muhammad Farooq Awan claimed on Saturday to have arrested an accused murderer.
SSP said that the accused Zafar Iqbal, ten days ago, had killed his wife, Razia Sultan and injured their daughter in Sargodha.
He said that the SIU team arrested him in Karachi and recovered the murder weapon from his possession used in the incident adding that further investigation was under way.
