KARACHI: Sindh IGP Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed the police officials to ensure the implementation of the strategy devised under the Ramazan contingency plan for the Youm-e-Ali (AS) processions and congregations on the 21st of Ramazan-ul-Mubarik.
The Sindh IGP said that effective and coordinated security and traffic arrangements should be ensured at all the mosques, Imambargahs, routes of the processions, and venues of the congregations on Youm-e-Ali (AS), according to a handout issued on Sunday. He also called for making extra-ordinary security arrangement at range, zone and district levels at all the mosques and Imambargahs during the nights in the last ten days of Ramazan. The IGP said that through intelligence, timely action should be taken against the criminals and terrorists to prevent any untoward incident. Jamali also directed the police to take steps against offensive wall chalking, instigative speeches, and sale and distribution of provocative pamphlets, and such other material.
Moreover, the Sindh IGP on Sunday appreciated the police officials of Karachi, Shikarpur, and Khairpur over their performance and announced the reward of Rs 12 million for them. According to reports, the Sindh IGP announced Rs 200,000 reward each for two police parties in Karachi over the killing of four suspected bandits in encounters. Similarly, he announced Rs 500,000 reward for a police party of Shaikarpur where three suspected robbers were killed and arms were recovered after an encounter in the limits of Sultan Kot Police Station. On the other hand, the police party in Khairpur who recovered two abducted persons in an encounter and killed two abductors were given Rs 300,000 as a reward.
